Alexandre Corazzola was raised in Düsseldorf, Munich and Vienna by a Bavarian mother and an Italian father. At 17 he emigrated to the United States to attend the Idyllwild Arts Academy, an arts high school in the Californian mountains.  After his Bachelor of Arts at Western Michigan University, he received his MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

 

Ten years later, Alexandre was back in Europe and would be working as an assistant for the following three years at Schaubühne Berlin, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg.

 

Since 2008 he has been working as a freelance set and costume designer across Europe at such theatres as Opera di Roma, State Opera Prague, Oper Frankfurt, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Volkstheater Wien, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Nationaltheater Weimar, Schauspiel Leipzig, Schauspielhaus Graz, Staatsoper and Staatsschauspiel Hannover, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg,  Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Theater Winterthur, Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg and Théatre Athenée Paris.

 

Alexandre is an alumn of the International Forum of the Theater Treffen and the Akademie Musiktheater heute of the Deutsche Bank.  As a guest docent he has taught the costume design class and given lectures at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden.  In 2018 his set and costume designs for "Spring Awakening" were nominated for a FAUST award.  And in 2024 the production "Bloodbook", for which he designed the set, was chosen to participate in the Radikal Jung Festival in Munich.
